Hale Farm Crafts The Franklin glassworks was first opened in 1824 by Parks, Edmunds & Parks in Kent, Ohio. Although a primitive glassworks, their product was of a very high quality. In the early 1830s, the glassworks burned to the ground. In 1970, an archeological investigation conducted by Case Western Reserve University and the Western Reserve Historical Society moved the remains to Hale Farm in Bath, Ohio. Based on these historic remains, a working glassworks was built in an adjoining barn. The glass produced by Hale Farm & Village glassblowers is of the same high quality and exhibits the same fine colors as the original glass. It duplicates in both material and form, the artistic efforts of the early glassblowers from Franklin Glassworks. To antique collectors, glass produced by the original Franklin Glassworks is known as Kent Glass, and is among the most highly prized and most desirable American glass. All styles are available in the following colors: Amber, Cobalt, and Green.
